T4T has many products designed to promote health and safety for urban as well as rural areas in Africa. It also has people dedicated to ensuring proper and sustainable application of the Appropriate Technologies.
The Bio-sand Water filter uses the simple process of natural water filtration first invented by Canadian Professor David Manz. Water flows by gravity through a series of layers of organic matter killing and absorbing germs and unwanted substances. Waterborne diseases such as cholera and typhoid are significantly reduced along with silt, sand and organic matter.
Many of the products work with the culture and behaviour of the people which allows the technologies to be easily assimilated into communities. The results have not only been successful, but have changed the behavior of people in poverty to sustainably increase health and safety.
T4T has its origins at the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), former Faculty of Technology, Makerere University, where its founder, Engineer Dr. Moses Kizza Musaazi, is a senior lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. After dedicating 15 years to Research and Development in Appropriate Technology (AT), Dr. Musaazi found it logical to form T4T as the implementing company.
